While the diaphragm is essential for breath, it's overlooked as being a central foundational pillar for your entire overall health.
From a structural standpoint it links us from head to toe through fascia. Any fascial imbalances within that chain could upset our entire structure. Much like the foundation of a building, if it shifts, the building might still function, but perhaps the windows now leak and the doors don't close quite right. We can fiddle with the windows and doors, but because the foundation is off, those repairs won't last. The only true fix is to address the foundation and repair that first.
Now imagine the extra stresses that might occur elsewhere in a structure with an offset foundation. For instance, your breathing becomes shallow, now your nervous system senses something is off, so it triggers a hormonal reaction from your endocrine system and that starts to effect the entire biochemistry of your body. A cascading effect has started throughout systems that we have no conscious control over. But, wait... How did it start? A shortness of breath. We do have some conscious control of that!
Healthy breathing, means a healthy diaphragm which gives us a solid foundation to build on for optimal vitality.
